14 weeks
Some new and interesting things are happening to our baby this week. Thought it might be time for a scientific update of sorts. Here's what pregnancy.org had to say about week 14.
**Thyroid gland has matured and baby begins producing hormones which will be used throughout his or her life.
**In boys, the prostate gland develops
**In girls, the ovaries move from the abdomen to the pelvis
**Little one may have learned to suck its thumb by this point!
**Baby's bones are getting harder and stronger by the day!
**Baby's skin is very transparent still
**Lanugo (very fine hair) covers the baby's body and will continue to grow until 26 weeks gestational age - Generally this will be shed prior to birth. Its purpose is to help protect baby's skin while in all that water!
**Baby is about 3.42 inches (8.7cm) long and weighs about 1.52 ounces (43 grams) - approximately the weight of a letter!
The development of a baby still amazes me.

Isn't it awesome?!?1 I got to feel the baby move this morning! I am really happy for you guys. We need to meet up and allow our babys to meet sometime. Oh and about the Brian Reagan DVD. . .i am totally getting that. I watched the comedy central special but i didn't record it (like an idiot) so I am going to get the dvd it was really funny!

we totally will need to let our babies meet! perhaps we can teach them to slurp! i didn't get to watch the comedy central special, but i so desperatly want to get the new dvd! it may be necessary! something else that may be necessary. . . you buying Lucy a baby seagull guitar! awesome!
